The Seven Sisters: Discover The South Downs

Guided Group Walk

Overview:

Join us for an unforgettable 10 mile coastal hike along the iconic Seven Sisters. Starting at Eastbourne, this stunning route follows the King Charles III England Coast Path before joining the South Downs Way. Expect dramatic white cliffs, coastal hills, and beautiful sea views as we take on one of the most famous stretches of coastline in the UK.

Route Details:

We begin at Eastbourne, setting off along the seafront before gradually making our way towards Beachy Head, the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain at 162 metres (531 ft).

From here, we make our steady climb up to the summit, where we’ll reach the Beachy Head Trig Point, a fantastic spot to pause and take in the sweeping coastal views. Toilets are available here alongside a ice cream van usually!

We then join the South Downs Way, continuing along the clifftop towards Birling Gap. This section offers a more rolling landscape as you begin to see the famous up and down terrain of the Seven Sisters.

From Birling Gap, we take on the iconic Seven Sisters themselves. These chalk cliffs are a series of seven undulating hills:

  • Haven Brow – 49m (161 ft)
  • Short Brow – 66m (217 ft)
  • Rough Brow – 71m (233 ft)
  • Brass Point – 72m (236 ft)
  • Flagstaff Point – 82m (269 ft)
  • Flat Hill – 77m (253 ft)
  • Baily’s Hill – 67m (220 ft)

This is the most challenging but rewarding part of the walk, with a series of climbs and descents that we’ll take at a steady, supportive group pace, with plenty of time to pause and enjoy the views.

After completing the Seven Sisters, we descend towards Cuckmere Haven, where the river meets the sea. We will take some time at the sea front before continuing on to the visitor centre, where we’ll catch a shuttle bus back to our starting point in Eastbourne, making this an ideal linear route.
