Welcome to MJ Outdoor Adventures (Ordnance Survery Champions and North Downs Way Ambassadors) - MJ Outdoor Adventures was founded in late 2022 to help people explore Kent on foot. Since then, our community has grown to include members from Kent, Surrey, London, and Essex. Together, we discover new trails, uncover new paths, learn local history, spot wildlife, and meet like-minded people along the way. Our group welcomes everyone, from those in their early 20s to walkers in their 80s, and we are proud advocates for diversity in the outdoors.
We run walks on weekdays and weekends to suit a variety of schedules and interests. Our events include mixed group walks as well as women-only wellness walks, so there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re new to walking or a regular explorer, you’ll find a friendly, supportive community ready to share the joy of Kent’s beautiful countryside.
Meet Jenn
My passion lies in creating a community of like-minded people, connecting others with nature, and discovering the hidden gems waiting along Kent’s trails and footpaths.
I’m a trained Lowland Leader with outdoor first aid and full insurance, so you’re always in safe hands. I’m also trained in nutrition and hormonal health, and I’ve taken mental health training with MIND to better support members of our group.
I care deeply about nature, conservation, and making the outdoors safe and accessible for everyone. I specialise in women’s-only walks to create supportive spaces where women can explore with confidence and connection.
Alongside leading MJ Outdoor Adventures, I work freelance across the UK – guiding everything from small bespoke walks to large corporate events with hundreds of participants. I’m also a volunteer for the Mountain Training Association in Kent and regularly attend events to further develop my skills and knowledge.
As a public speaker, I’m passionate about encouraging more women into the outdoors and have shared my experiences through podcasts, printed articles, and talks at events.
Outside of work, you’ll most likely find me wild swimming, camping, rescuing animals, or exploring the wild beauty of Scotland. Nature and walking are truly my happy place, and I love helping others discover that same sense of freedom and connection outdoors.
Meet Mike
I was brought up in East London with had little opportunity to explore nature in the urban jungle, so I’ve taking to walking later in life. I’ve had to overcome a number of obstacles in my own head during my upbringing and having these new outdoor experiences has enriched my life beyond measure.
Since I started hiking I have an all over sense of well being, and I love to meet and connect with members of our group to share the mental and physical benefits of being outdoors.
I enjoy exploring Kent, learning about the local history and relish in new challenges whilst forging new memories along the way. I’m the group back walker so regardless of your walking pace you’ll always have a buddy to walk with.
Meet Lisa
I love a nice map! Navigation is a passion of mine and being away from it all in green spaces. I love sharing all this with others, whether that’s regaling people with lots of weird and wonderful facts or just having a good natter. I’m always on the look-out for that unusual plant or fungus and have recently got into taking photos from unusual angles. I take a very poor selfie though!
I came to walking rather later in life and truly believe that it’s never too late to experience the joys of the great outdoors. As a neurodivergent leader, I’m keen to dispel the many myths around what we can or can’t achieve, and to help everyone feel comfortable in their own skin and out in nature.
Before training in Lowland Leading (including outdoor first aid) and Navigation Skills, I was a Performing Arts teacher for more than 30 years and now I am a North Downs Way Ambassador and I work freelance – guiding walks, teaching navigation, and working as a Duke of Edinburgh instructor.
In my spare time, I love to listen to music, read odd books and watch obscure films. I look forward to walking with you!
