Slow Down in Nature

A Gentle Womens Woodland Wellbeing Session

Overview

Join us for a gentle Nature Connection Session at Bedgebury National Pinetum, created as part of my training in Nature-Based Practice funded through a grant from Kent County Council.

These sessions will be very different from our usual walks. Instead of covering distance, we’ll slow down and spend time immersing ourselves in the natural environment, noticing what’s around us and reconnecting with nature through our senses.

The sessions will be gentle, welcoming, and relaxed, with simple guided activities inspired by forest bathing, mindfulness, and nature connection practices. No previous experience is needed just a curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

As part of my course, I’m running these sessions for free and would love some honest feedback afterwards about what you enjoyed and what didn’t work so well.

Sessions will take place at Bedgebury National Pinetum, where we’ve been offered a reduced parking rate of £4 per car.

Session Details

We’ll meet near the main visitor area at Bedgebury Pinetum before heading a short distance into the surrounding woodland.

Unlike a traditional walk, we’ll move slowly and stay within a relatively small area so we can fully experience the environment around us.

During the session we’ll explore a range of gentle nature-based practices, which may include:

  • Nature connection activities to help us tune into the sights, sounds, and textures of the woodland
  • Mini forest bathing experiences, encouraging us to slow down and engage our senses
  • Mirror walks, where we experience the woodland in a slightly different and playful way
  • Touch points, inviting us to notice textures and details in the natural world
  • Mindfulness moments, allowing time for quiet reflection and simply being present in nature

The aim is not exercise or distance, but supporting wellbeing through connection with the natural environment which is something that research shows can benefit both mental and physical health.

We’ll spend time in peaceful woodland areas among the beautiful collection of trees that make Bedgebury Pinetum such amazing location

New or nervous to come solo?
We totally understand how you feel! In fact, around 80% of our members come to the group solo, and most of them make friends in no time at all. Our group is warm, welcoming, and supportive, and you’ll quickly find that everyone is open to chatting and getting to know each other. We have a wide variety of life experiences among us, so there’s always something to connect over. You’ll be at ease before you know it! Walking with us is not just about keeping active; it’s about making new friends and building a supportive community within nature. We can’t wait to welcome you!
