Walking the North Downs: Trig Points, Views and Wildflowers.
Estimated reading time 1 minute
Our women’s walking group recently headed out for a midweek 5-mile circular walk from Hawkinge. Beginning at the Kent Battle of Britain Museum, we headed into nature, following a scenic stretch of the North Downs Way.

A slight incline at the beginning got everyone warmed up. We were promised 18oc but it certainly didn't feel that warm! From the start, the path invited us into a slower rhythm.
As we continued along the ridgeline, we were rewarded with panoramic views over Folkestone and the shimmering coastline, France was not quite insight today though. We bagged the circular trig point on the Downs and Jenn once again got to explain what they are and her love of them!
Further along, we ticked off a second hidden trig point, tucked away off-path, adding a little extra adventure to our day. The return took us through fields bursting with wildflowers and wildlife (including a peacock!).
Back at the museum, we finished our walk in the onsite café, sharing snacks, drinks, and conversation.
If you are looking for a smaller womens group our mid week ones are for you! Come and join us!
